Gold and Black Cafe Official Opening

18th June 2011

Given its location and a little hindsight it might appear an obvious choice, but it was one of those off the cuff comments that gave the Gold and Black cafe in Lichfield Street its name. While not associated with the Wolves, the manager and staff are supporters. What better then, than to have the cafe officially opened by one of the players.
Sam Winnal is an up and coming striker for Wolverhampton wanderers Football Club. He should make an appearance in the first team in the 2011-2012 season, and in a few years will hopefully be playing internationally. Sam arrived at 1 pm, looking like any young guy out on a Saturday afternoon. He was happy to chat to staff and customers, pose for pictures and sign autographs. Quite a crowd had turned up for the opening, and many more looked on as they went about their business.

There’s a wide range of meals on the menu, from salads, sandwiches and baguettes, baked potatoes, and full breakfasts (including a ‘Belly Buster’) through to Weight watchers offerings. The cafe is located opposite the Art gallery, close to many shops and adjacent the bus stops for many of the city’s buses. There’s a cosy atmosphere with friendly staff, a comfortable couch and a TV, so it’s worth popping in for a bite while you’re out shopping or before you’re off to see a match.
